Driver's Education
Defensive Driving
Driver Education Course Curriculum

Courses will be scheduled monthly and will consist of the prescribed ten hours (10) of Classroom Instruction and six hours (6) of actual Behind-The-Wheel Instruction by a qualified driver education instructor.

Classroom Instruction will consist of 4 - 2½ hour sessions at the Driver Education Center. The classes are scheduled on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Summer classes are scheduled in the mornings, Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The student will provide his or her own transportation to the Center.

  • Driving sessions (6 one-hour sessions) will be scheduled after school with times available from 1:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
  • Summer driving sessions are from 9am until noon
  • Sessions will run three to four weeks
  • The cost of the course is $250.00 - meets all certification and insurance requirements.

  • Deposit of $50 is required for pre-registration
  • Oklahoma Motor Vehicle Accident Prevention Course (Insurance Savings)
  • Office Hours are 1-6 p.m., Monday thru Friday, for the Fall & Winter Sessions
    Office Hours are 8 a.m. - noon, Monday thru Thursday, for the Summer Session

  4. Driver attitude and safety

  8. Seat belt use and laws
  9. Effects of Natural Laws on driving
  10. Effects of alcohol and drugs
  11. Basic vehicle maintenance
  12. Adverse driving conditions
  13. Night driving
  14. Handling emergencies


  1. Pre-driving checks and adjustments
  2. Familiarity with instruments and controls
  3. Basic vehicle maneuvers - starts, stops, turns, backing
  4. Lane observance and lane changing
  5. Intersection movement and observance
  6. Right-of-Way rules
  7. Traffic signs, signals and markings
  8. Parking on hill, angle park, parallel park
  9. Residential, rural, city and highway driving

Driving Sessions will be scheduled after enrollment to best accommodate the student and instructor.
